Sleep Matters

Learn more about why we sleep – and just how much sleep matters

Sleep is as necessary as oxygen, water or food yet in periods of high stress, when we need it the most, many people skip sleep to accomplish more tasks or try and resolve issues.

Sadly, any productive gains resulting from skipping sleep will not offset the negative effects on the human body that result from sleep deprivation. You might feel like you’re being productive but in reality, tiredness leads to impaired cognitive ability. Sleep gives the mind and body a chance to reset, organise and prepare for a new day – it is an essential ingredient to thriving.

Based predominantly on the work of Dr Matthew Walker, let us share the science of sleep and empower your team to make positive choices around their sleep. Research has shown sleep DOES make a significant difference to our ability to perform and ultimately to our health and well-being.

Dr Matthew Walker, Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley and Director of the Sleep and Neuroimaging Laboratory has published over 100 scientific research studies during the course of his 20-year career.
